Our very own Lois Carke has been honoured for her services to swimming with the Medal of the Order of Australia awarded on the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Mrs Clarke was a founder of the Dee Why Nipperettes in 1976 and was president from 1976 to 1980, founded the Manly Jetz SC in 2002 with Narelle Simpson and Northern Beaches Swim School in 2012 where she remains the Principal.
She has been a committee member of the Dee Why Ladies’ Amateur Swimming Club for more than 40 years after joining it in 1973 and being made a life member in 1990.
Lois is an active volunteer with Swimmers with Disabilities.
Mrs Clarke has also had a long involvement with the Warringah Amateur Swimming Association, of which she was president from 2002-2005 and from 2012-2015, and was made a life member in 2003.
She is also a life member of Swimming Metro North East.
